The National Standard GB 5296.6-2004 Instructions for use of products of consumer interest - Part 6: furniture specifies the basic requirements, methods and should-be-involved content for the formulation of instructions for use of furniture. The followingPart of GB 5296 is applicable to the formulation of instructions for use of all types of furniture.
The basic requirements of instructions for use of furniture are as follows:
1) The sale of the furniture must have the instructions for use (labels, signs, manual, etc.);
2) The name of the furniture must reflect the true nature of the furniture, in line with the corresponding national or industry standards. The common name in the furniture industry should be used in the furniture whose name is not specified in National standards and industry standards;
3) Manual must clearly specify the furniture’s uses and the environmental conditions applicable to the furniture and, based on the characteristics and needs of the furniture, indicated the structure, materials used, performance, type, size, and correct methods, requirements and the required diagram for transport, installation, use and maintenance;
4) The sale of the furniture must comply with the relevant national laws, regulations and standards on safety, security, health and environment. Manual must be given to illustrate the relevant national requirements and indicators, and must also provide an explanation on the furniture materials and paint containing the actual toxic or radioactive substances to control the index;
5) The furniture materials and paint containing the actual toxic or radioactive substances in the relevant provisions of the Nation should within the allowable range, but improper use will continue to have an adverse impact on consumers, the instructions for use must indicate the Notes and protective measures;
6) When the structure, type and materials of the furniture change, the instructions for use must be amended accordingly and timely in accordance with the required procedures. The manufacturers must provide the corresponding instructions for use of the furniture to the consumers;
7) The manual can be prepared in accordance with the specific furniture; can also be prepared in accordance with the type classification of the furniture. When prepared in accordance with the latter, its parameters or content of the different parts should be able to clearly identify.
8) The manual attached in the furniture for the consumers must indicate the specific model number and production date of the purchase of furniture;
9) The furniture manual must indicate the publication date;
10) The furniture manual must be consistent with the information content of the broadcast (such as promotional materials and advertising) of the same kinds of furniture sent by the producers and distributor;
11) If necessary, the following statement must be displayed in a prominent position in the manual cover: ’please readthis entire manual before you install and use the furniture.
