Environmental labelling

China environmental labeling (see Figure 1), a trademark of a product, stipulates that the product not only meet the requirements of acceptable quality, but also reach the requirements of environmental protection during the production, use, and disposal. Because consumer’s interest and competition in the market, enterprises should adjust industrial structure, utilize clean technology, and produce environment-friendly products to improve the environment, and ultimately achieve the purpose of environmental protection and economic development.

China Environmental Labelling Product Certification Committee was established on May 17, 1994. The Environmental Certification Centre of the State Environmental Protection Administration was found in 2003. This centre  is recognized by the State Certification and Accreditation Administration and is the only institution to do the national green product certification and grants product environmental labeling. The technical requirements of China environmental labeling product certification is promulgated by State Environmental Protection Administration. The environmental labelling is a voluntary certification mark; it integrates the theories and methods of life cycle assessment, awareness of environmental management, and technology of clean production into the product environmental labeling certification, to promote the development of environment-friendly product, eco-industry and circular economy.
 
The environmental labeling certification products includes 93 types of products, such as household cooling appliances, computers, textiles, furniture, paper products, and biodegradable material products, etc.. There are 5 types of audio and video products subject to certification colour television broadcast receiver (HJ 2511-2012), disc player (HJ 2511-2012), camera (HJ 2513-2012) and projector (HJ 2516-2012), scanner (HJ 2517-2012). These standards have a detailed explanation for power consumption of the product, exposure rate, product design, recycling, hazardous substance restrictions, and instructions.
